  • ArtGnomon provides a wide range of consultancy and tangible services for the private and corporate collector or public cultural institutions in Greece and across Europe: the company experts advise on all aspects of management, acquisition, presentation and conservation of cultural art objects and assist with the commissioning of the necessary practical works by seeing through the implementation of a specific project from start to end.

Moreover, for the first time ArtGnomon introduces collectors and legitimate owners of art objects to the notion of accreditation of their works through a series of structured protocols and a well-defined methodology leading to the UltimateDocumentation (UD© ) proprietary concept.

A highly qualified scientific team with international credentials offers training courses to conservators, curators, artists and scientists on materials and techniques related to conservation science and on science-based art preservation. Equally, acknowledged researchers in their own scientific fields collaborate in project-based R&D programs for the development of technical instruments and tools as well as diagnostic strategies, procedures and protocols. more...

  • ArtGnomon has the ability to offer a range of services valuable for a varied plethora of addressees ranging from scientists to collectors.

The main aim of all the services outlined below is the preservation, protection or promotion of artistic objects of cultural heritage: this can be achieved partly through the recording and analysis of the preservation state of a given artwork or of an entire collection (condition surveys, impact assessment, deterioration/conservation studies).

Additionally, either through the control of the microclimate in which the artwork/collection resides or is exhibited (environmental monitoring and control) or through the compilation of the full profile of an artwork by placing it in the right framework context for a variety of purposes (forensic examination, originality verification etc).

  • New protocols utilizing modern technologies in the form of conventional and proprietary scientific equipment in a complementary way have been thoroughly examined and established.

These include standardized examination protocols for identification of pigments, detection of subsurface and bulk structural defects, definition of risk, growth of deterioration and priorities of restoration, comparative seasonal and periodical analysis and diagnosis, climate and environmental impact, surface monitoring under natural induced load, originality vs fraud, impact of transportation.

The protocols can be invariably applied on organic and inorganic works of art, movable or immovable, independently of shape, size or surface texture and complexity of structural constitution.

  • Though ArtGnomon introduces a novel approach to the end output of its varied works aiming to the Accreditation of Artworks, its operation is based on sound foundations both from a scientific point of view as well as in terms of business ethics and practices.

Benefiting from the combined use of conventional analytical and diagnostic tools together with state-of-the-art innovative and proprietary instrumentation, ArtGnomon is able to achieve its UltimateDocumentation (UD©) integrated procedure, the core component towards the accreditation of cultural goods. Such instrumentation is made available by the FORTH Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (Herakleion, Crete) and the Hellenic Institute of Holography. However, any technical equipment -irrespective of its sophistication and user-freindliness- is of little material use without the expertise of trained operators and the scientific interpretation of the findings by a group of dedicated proffessionals, each with long exposure to a variety of international art-related projects.

In parallel, ArtGnomon is in the advantageous position to benefit from the long and successful involvement of TAURUS SecureSolutionS in international document authentication and brand protection programs as well as various accreditation projects of individuals, vehicles and object items. Such unique and varied experience can only be of useful meaningful value to the legitimate owners of cultural artifacts if implemented and exercised within a framework of a strict and sound ethical code of practice and certification guidelines.
